Nigerian Politics and Cross-Carpeting

Nigerian Politics on my mind.

I grew up in the time when Awolowo meant UPN and development..free food etc.
And Shagari meant NPN and regression.

Up Awo! Up Awo!!

We, the children exclaimed. We even thought that God placed Awo in the Moon for us to know that he was God-sent.

It was not a popular move to cross from one Party to another. The ideologies are so different and clear.

These days, God-forsaken days (no apologies at all).... these Politicians don't even feel a thing wrong about cross-carpeting.

You need to change your Political Party only once in Northern Ireland for your career and that of your entire family to be over. If I dey lie Deji Olaiya pls ja mi, cut me or disprove this. Same for many useful, reasonable and God-blessed Countries.

I seek a New Nigeria where Political Parties will be about ideologies, people development, Nation building and sanity of mind.

Except for mergers and evolutions, change of Parties will never win my smile. It is just not posicant!

Let's look at it more deeply.

If after losing the primary election of one Party, you insist that your people wants you to run for Governor of a State, you will seek independent Candidacy, not move to another Party.

If that Party had the same ideology with the one you just left, why ain't they merged?
If your new Party has your ideology but the one in which you just lost, doesn't, what were you doing in APC in the first place? Seeking most popular Party platform to gain your relevance?

I hear that some of my Friends are campaigning for AD because their preferred Candidate didn't win the APC primary ticket. Haven't you just proved to the world that this crave for governorship office isn't for the people but for yourselves?

This is the only reason why I don't like to be called a Politician. That profession doesn't sound godly at all. I can not count many Politicians, whose main purpose for seeking office is to develop their people and State. They are veeeerrrryyyyy few.

Many present day Politicians prove to be a Awoist. Liars!
Many prove to be followers of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Liars!

When the bigger and older Asiwaju Aremu Olusegun Obasanjo nearly snuffed life out of Asiwaju Tinubu in the years past, Tinubu stayed ALONE and refused to bow.

We all know that these biscuit Politicians would have gone quickly to bow and vow allegiance to the great Obasanjo.

That is the power of will. Resilience in the greatest time of trouble. PDP was wide open for him to jump into. He refused.

Alas, I don't see such Politicians here now.

Many Gluttons changed Parties or subdued their Party to the Nigerian Dollars of Jonathan.

The list is endless o...... Mimiko, Peter Obi ati awon emeewa e.

God please bring us new set of Politicians.
Those who will serve us, not starve us!
Those who will raise us up, not rape us!
Those who will develop our economy, not demonize our problems!
Ideologists, not Idiots!

Those who will not think of rituals, kidnaps or murder, just to win an election.

Those who will make us detest immorality, not these ones who makes us think that cross-carpeting is part of democracy.

Shut the (middle finger) up!

This is not the Nigeria that I want my children to be used to. A change, real change beckons! If that change is done by our next generation, we failed!

We desire Service-oriented people, not Thieves!

#iBelieveInNigeria.

On Ondo APC Primaries again.

This is the main problem of the Yoruba race. OTE! Betrayal on many grounds.
My way or the highway. No one wants to compromise their individual ways for the general good!
Even Asiwaju BOLA Ahmed Tinubu is well known for compromising his decisions for the general good, so many times.
As much as I love and appreciate Asiwaju, I can not agree that his ways will always be the best way.
He is not God!
His choice of Mimiko in Ondo, ended in betrayal.
His choice of Aketi lost the first election against Mimiko.
His choice of Fayemi for second term lost that election.
Fashola could hardly get Asiwaju's approval for a second term. But he won, based on his performance.
How many Campaigned has Asiwaju supported? Did we always win? No!
These will be just a few to mention.

If we really want Asiwaju to live long for us all, we must desist from equating him to the Almighty.

He is too vital to the Nigerian politics.

As far as APC is concerned, this interview among a few others, has dug the grave for that Party, starting from Ondo to the Central. And that is very selfish. Very very selfish!

You may want to face the problem of, why can't we agree, lose today and win tomorrow? Lose an argument and win a friend?

I ask u, who in Ondo State wants to vote for APC now? Who wants to vote for AD? But, either the incumbent Party splits into 2 or 4, they will win. Simply because, the Party that is positioned to snatch the seat is now divided. Divided by matters that can easily be internally resolved.

Now, I ask, who makes Party decisions?
Oyegun or Asiwaju?
Why MUST the Party Chairman resign because Asiwaju demands his resignation? That is an insult to the Party itself!
There should be deliberations and internal dialogue towards all sorts of compromise and decisions!

An insult on the Party Chairman is an insult on the Party itself. And we just seem to forget that, we seek the Votes of the Electorates, not the Party Members!

We have presented our Party as a Fraud. How do u intend to turn that around and win an election.

As far as Aketi is concerned, it is a bad sign to the State and the Nation if we can not re-present the same Candidate of our last election.

Aketi contested against Mimiko at the last election. If APC can not present Aketi at this election, it simply means that our choice of Aketi was wrong. Therefore, any other choice now, must be wrong too! Simple.

Abraham! Sincerely, can Abraham stand up to Mimiko's Choice in Ondo?
All the votes that Abraham garnered at the Party primary was simply because of Asiwaju's instruction. But, can that instruction win the election?

This is now a National Party. It must be treated as such.

Those who understand the people of Ondo, will know that, they are rare people. Your Choice may not be their Choice. And pls remember, the Ondo people that I know, do not want to be under the control of Asiwaju!

That is the simple logic that won a second term for Mimiko. He simply sensitized his people to refuse to be under Asiwaju. And they agreed! And u know, they haven't changed their minds! ('minds'...because, Ondo does not have a united mind)

Our divided crave for office, is not a desire for public development. But, individual relevance!

If we slide individual relevance aside and consider public development, this fights wouldn't surface.

As it is now, Ondo is staying with PDP! Until we retrace our steps quicker than we demand Oyegun's resignation.

Ire O!

Living Vs. Making a Living.

In 1923, nine of the wealthiest people in the world met at Chicago's Edge Water Beach Hotel.

Their combined wealth, it is estimated, exceeded the wealth of the Government of the United States at that time. These men certainly knew how to make a living and accumulate wealth. Attending the meeting were the following men:

1. The president of the largest steel company,

2. The president of the largest utility company,

3. The president of the largest gas company,

4. The president of the New York Stock Exchange,

5. The president of the Bank of International Settlements,

6. The greatest wheat speculator,

7. The greatest bear on Wall Street,

8. The head of the World's greatest monopoly &

9. A member of President Harding's cabinet.

That's a pretty impressive line-up of people by anyone's yardstick.

Yet, 25 years later, where were those nine industrial giants?

Let’s examine what happened to them 25 years later.
1. The President of the then largest steel company (Bethlehem Steel Corp), Charles M Schwab, lived on borrowed capital for five years before he died bankrupt.

2. The President of the then largest gas company, Howard Hubson, went insane.

3. One of the greatest commodity traders (Wheat Speculator), Arthur Cutten, died insolvent.

4. The then President of the New York Stock Exchange, Richard Whitney, was sent to jail.

5. The member of the US President’s Cabinet (the member of President Harding's cabinet), Albert Fall, was pardoned from jail just to be able to go home and die in peace.

6. The greatest “bear” on Wall Street, Jesse Livermore committed suicide.

7. The President of the then world’s greatest monopoly, Ivar Krueger, committed suicide.

8. The President of the Bank of International Settlement, Leon Fraser, committed Suicide.

9. The president of the largest utility company, Samuel Insull, died penniless.

What they forgot was how to "make" life while they got busy making money!

Money in itself is not evil; it provides food for the hungry, medicine for the sick, clothes for the needy. Money is only a medium of exchange.

We need two kinds of education:

a) One that teaches us how to make a living,

and

b) One that teaches us how to live.

There are many of us who are so engrossed in our professional life that we neglect our family, health and social responsibilities.

If asked why we do this, we would reply that "We are doing it for our family".

Yet, our kids are sleeping when we leave home. They are sleeping when we come back home!! Twenty years later, we’ll turn back, and they’ll all be gone, to pursue their own dreams and their own lives.

Without water, a ship cannot move. The ship needs water, but if the water gets into the ship, the ship will face existential problems. What was once a means of living for the ship will now become a means of destruction.

Similarly we live in a time where earning is a necessity but let not the earning enter our hearts, for what was once a means of living will surely become a means of destruction for us as well.

So take a moment and ask yourself, "Has the water entered my ship?"
I hope not!

Hope the above story will drive all of us in a better direction in life.

    'Alone I can 'Enjoy' but

    together we can 'Laugh'.

    That's the BEAUTY of
